BOHOL ISLAND STATE UNIVERSITY

The Bohol Island State University (BISU), the first and only state university in the Province of Bohol, is a conversion by operation of law, RA 8659 to RA 9722, with the title: “An Act Converting the Central Vtsayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT), Its Units and Satellite Campuses in the City of Tagbilaran and in the Municipalities of Bilar, Candijay, Clarin, Calape, and Balilihan, all located in the Province of Bohol to be known as the Bohol Island State University (BISU) and Appropriating Funds Therefor’, on October 14, 2009, by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. 

Bohol Island State University is a multi-campus higher education institution originally composed of five (5) independent vocational and technical public schools in the Province of Bohol integrated by virtue of Republic Act 8659 (CVSCAFT Charter) signed on June 22, 1998. The composite schools were: The Bohol Agricultural College (BAC)in Barangay Zamora, Municipality of Bilar, established in 1968; The Bohol School of Fisheries (BSF) in Barangay Cogtong, Municipality of Candijay converted in 1959; The Clarin School of Fisheries (CSF) in Barangay Poblacion, Municipality of Clarin, 1962; The Calape National School of Fisheries (CNSF) in Barangay Calunasan, 1982 and the Calape Polytechnic College(CPC) Barangay San Isidro, established in 1992, both in the Municipality of Calape, merged to be one Calape campus; The Bohol School of Arts and Trades (BSAT) in Tagbilaran City established in 1959.
